The worst drought in 56 years has
extensively devastated corn and soybean
cultivation in the US, and has spread across
over half the country – 26 states –
particularly the Midwest that is their main
agricultural region. Global warming has
raised corn and soybean prices to the
highest ever recorded; it should be noted that
the US is the world’s largest producer and
exporter of such cereals.
