DuPont Thailand Innovation Center
held the Thailand Food Innovation Forum
Bangkok, 30 October 2014
- On occasion of the 3rd anniversary
of DuPont Thailand Innovation Center, DuPont Thailand held
the Thailand Food Innovation Forum under the theme of “Food
Innovation for Health and Wellness” at its Innovation Center, 12th
Floor, Chamchuri Square.
In the past few decades, global consumers have increasingly
been concerned about their health, and as a result, prefer products
that would enhance their health and wellness. Nowadays, busy
lifestyle and poor dietary intakes are main causes of malnutrition
triggering major diseases. Consequently, healthy and nutritious
food and food safety play a vital role in the global food market.
Thai entrepreneurs have been developing themselves to
become key manufacturers and exporters, by creating innovative
food products to promote people’s well-being and integrating
expertise and knowledge from academic/market researches
and advanced food technologies in response to the fast-growing
global demands.
To encourage and strengthen the connections between key
players and stakeholders in the food industry; and celebrated
the 3rd anniversary of DuPont Thailand Innovation Center, the
Thailand Food Innovation Forum has been held to be the solid
forum sharing latest innovations, trends and market perspectives
in the health food industry. The forum has been honored by
Emeritus Professor Dr. Kraisid Tontisirin, Expert Committee
of National Food Committee, Thailand and Chairman of Food
Management Strategic Framework Development; Ms. Ornsurang
Teerawat, Food and Drug Technical Officer, Senior Professional,
Bureau of Food, Food and DrugAdministration, Ministry of Public
Health; Dr. Rutjawate Taharnklaew, Assistant Vice President -
Research and Development Center, Betagro Group; Assistant
Professor Dr. Anadi Nitithamyong, Institute of Nutrition, Mahidol
University; Dr. Bundit Ruangtrakool, Executive Vice President
of National Food Institute, Ministry of Industry, including with Dr.
Somchai Laohverapanich, Managing Director, DuPont Thailand;
Mr. Nuttaphol Thirasarutanunt, ASEAN Sales Leader, Sales and
Application Food Ingredients, DuPont Nutrition & Health and
Ms. Suntaree Taratikun, Manager of DuPont Thailand Innovation
Center. The Thailand Food Innovation Forum was a successful
event attracting over 100 attendees.
Somchai Laohverapanich, DuPont Thailand managing
director, said “The world’s fast-growing population brings
diverse challenges, with a part of the world facing the health
challenges of too much food, while parts of the world population
are still undernourished, and the rise of a middle-class in newly
developed countries. Thailand needs to focus more on value
added food products in the future, which will require increased
R&D investment among private and public sectors.”
Somchai commented that DuPont works in close collaboration
with customers to find new and better ways to solve food and
nutrition challenges. “Through DuPont Thailand Innovation Center,
we are able to help connect our local customers to DuPont
global research and development capabilities in developing food
solutions to address consumer needs.
