คุณอรุษ นวราช กรรมการผู้จัดการสวนสามพราน หัวเรือใหญ่ในการเป็นผู้ผลักดัน “สามพรานโมเดล” จ.นครปฐม และล่าสุดกับตำแหน่งนายกสมาคมผู้บริโภคอินทรีย์ของไทย (TOCA) มุ่งมั่นที่จะเป็นศูนย์กลางของการขับเคลื่อนสังคมเกษตรอินทรีย์ในวิถีแห่งความยั่งยืน และเป็นพื้นที่สร้างแรงบันดาลใจในการเรียนรู้เพื่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงให้ทุกคนได้เห็นถึงความเชื่อมโยงของเส้นทางวัตถุดิบและอาหาร ตั้งแต่ต้นทางการผลิต การแปรรูป กระทั่งถึงมือผู้บริโภค
ความมั่นคงอาจไม่เพียงพอต้องปลอดภัยด้วย
คุณอรุษ นวราช ผู้ผลักดัน “สามพรานโมเดล” จ.นครปฐม ที่หลายคนรู้จักในเรื่องของการทำการเกษตรอย่างยั่งยืนมากว่า 11 ปี เปิดเผยเกี่ยวกับประเด็นเรื่องความมั่นคงทางอาหารทั้งในประเทศไทยและทั่วโลกอย่างน่าสนใจว่า ความมั่นคงทางอาหารนั้นต้องครอบคลุมถึงความปลอดภัยอาหาร (Food Safety) คือ การมีอาหารในปริมาณที่เพียงพอ ต่อเนื่อง และปลอดภัย รวมไปถึงการไม่ใช้สารเคมีในการทำการเกษตร และไม่มุ่งเน้นการผลิตในปริมาณมากเพียงอย่างเดียว สำหรับประเทศไทยยังไม่ได้มีทิศทางเกี่ยวกับความมั่งคงอาหารอย่างชัดเจน เพราะยังไม่มีการยกขึ้นเป็นวาระแห่งชาติอย่างจริงจัง รวมทั้งยังไม่มีการบูรณาการอย่างจริงจัง คุณอรุษ กล่าวเพิ่มเติมว่า ประเทศไทยเป็นประเทศที่มีการใช้ยาฆ่าแมลงในผลิตภัณฑ์เกษตรมากเป็นอันดับที่ 5 ของโลกซึ่งทำให้สิ่งแวดล้อมเสียสมดุล อีกทั้งการปนเปื้อนด้วยสารเคมียังส่งผลต่อผู้บริโภคโดยอาจก่อให้เกิดโรคเรื้อรังต่างๆ จากสารเคมีที่ตกค้างในร่างกาย ส่งผลกระทบต่อห่วงโซ่อาหารอินทรีย์ทั้งหมด ได้แก่ เกษตรกร ผู้ประกอบการ ผู้บริโภค และประเทศ อีกทั้งปัญหาหนี้เสียของเกษตรกรที่มาจากการกดราคาสินค้าเกษตรของพ่อค้าคนกลาง เนื่องจากผลิตผลทางการเกษตรที่มีมากเกินความต้องการ รวมทั้งเกษตรกรนั้นไม่ได้มีอำนาจในการกำหนดราคาเอง โดยปัจจัยเหล่านี้มีความเกี่ยวข้องกันเป็นสายโซ่บางๆ และส่งผลกระทบกับห่วงโซ่อาหารอินทรีย์ทั้งหมด

Mr. Arrut Navaraj, Managing Director of Suan Sampran, is the mastermind of the “Sampran Model” in Nakhon Pathom. As the latest president of the Thai Organic Consumers Association (TOCA), he is now committed to driving the Thai organic society in a sustainable way and to creating a learning space for everyone to understand the connection in the food production pathway, starting from the conversion of raw ingredients and processing methods all the way through until the food reaches the consumers at the end.
Food Security and Food Safety Should Come Together
According to the founder of the Sampran Model in Nakhon Prathom, a project known for its sustainable agriculture for over 11 years, the food safety issue should be included in both Thailand’s and the world’s food security scenarios. It implies that we should have adequate, consistent, and safe food, not use chemicals in farming, and not rely solely on mass production. In Thailand, there is still no clear direction or consolidating plan in terms of food security because it has not been seriously brought up on the national agenda yet. Unfortunately, Khun Arrut further stated that our country ranks fifth in the world for the use of pesticides in agriculture. This causes ecological imbalances, and chemical contamination can provoke a wide range of chronic illnesses. Furthermore, pesticide usage has consequences for the entire organic food supply chain, including farmers, entrepreneurs, consumers, and the country. To give you some ideas, just think of farmers’ bad debts, which grow as they hardly get fair pricing from the middlemen after producing more than demand and usually lack the ability to set their own prices. These factors might seem trivial, but in the end, they would have an impact on the entire organic food supply chain.
