ภายหลังจากที่พืชกัญชากัญชงได้ถูกปลดล็อกพ้นจากยาเสพติดให้โทษ ทำให้ประชาชนสามารถใช้ประโยชน์ในทางการแพทย์และดูแลสุขภาพ รวมทั้งผู้ประกอบการสามารถนำไปพัฒนาเป็นผลิตภัณฑ์เชิงพาณิชย์หลากหลายประเภท ทั้งผลิตภัณฑ์ทางการแพทย์ ผลิตภัณฑ์สมุนไพร อาหาร และเครื่องสำอาง ตามพระราชบัญญัติอาหาร พ.ศ. 2522 กำหนดให้อาหารในภาชนะบรรจุพร้อมจำหน่ายที่มีส่วนของกัญชาและกัญชง ได้แก่ ใบ เปลือก ลำต้น เส้นใย กิ่ง ราก และเมล็ดกัญชง เป็นอาหารควบคุมเฉพาะ สามารถขอขึ้นทะเบียนตำรับอาหารได้ ทั้งนี้ยกเว้นช่อดอกกัญชงและกัญชาและเมล็ดกัญชา จัดเป็นอาหารที่ห้ามผลิต นำเข้า และจำหน่าย ซึ่งไม่อนุญาตให้ใช้เป็นส่วนประกอบในอาหารทุกประเภท สำนักงานคณะกรรมการอาหารและยาควบคุมคุณภาพมาตรฐานของผลิตภัณฑ์อาหารที่มีพืชดังกล่าวอย่างเข้มงวด โดยเฉพาะปริมาณ THC/CBD และการแสดงฉลาก ดังนั้น ผู้บริโภคจึงมั่นใจได้ว่าผลิตภัณฑ์อาหารที่มีส่วนผสมของกัญชาและกัญชงที่ได้รับเลขสารบบอาหาร จะมีความปลอดภัยเมื่อบริโภคตามคำแนะนำ
The removal of cannabis and hemp from the narcotics list has enabled the public to make use of the health and medical properties of said plants, and manufacturers can now apply them in the development of various commercial goods, including medical, herbal, food, and cosmetic products. According to the Food Act B.E. 2522 (1979), any prepackaged food that contains certain parts of cannabis or hemp, such as leaf, hull, stalk, fiber, stem, root or hemp seed is categorized as specifically controlled food, which is required to apply for food registration. This, however, does not apply to cannabis or hemp cola and cannabis seed, which are prohibited from being used in any food. The Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA) has strictly measures and control quality and standard of said products, especially amounts of THC/CBD and labeling shall conform to condition as specified in the Notification. Hence, consumers can be confident that foods obtained the product certificate number are safe if consumed as instructed.
