Get Digital. Now! Industrial Transformation ASIA-PACIFIC 2018

Festo participated at the 1st Industrial Transformation ASIA-PACIFIC, a Hannover Messe event held at Singapore EXPO from 16 – 18 October.

Adopting an integrated approach, Festo endeavours to help transform production systems to become digitally and intelligently networked throughout. At the exhibition, Festo presented the latest technologies, solutions and training programmes for the production world of tomorrow.

Visitors were able to discover how Festo creates added value for customers along a guided journey that is anchored by four key pillars.

Learn – Enabling customers to learn to engage with digital automation
Bionics4Education: Bionic Fish- The Bionic Fish promotes creativity and fun while learning from nature. Participants will be able to design fins from the materials provided and see how their design helps the bionic fish navigate in water. This exhibit is an optimal combination of digital and hands-on learning.
Cyber Physical (CP) Factory – The CP Factory illustrates the practical implementation of a networked factory. It is a comprehensive, modular and expandable Industry 4.0 factory model which can be used to represent the entire value chain. Training areas such as assembly line, logistics, production, production planning and control/Manufacturing Execution System (MES), lean production and quality assurance can be represented in didactic terms with this model.

Build – Supporting machine manufacturers with digital tools
Handling Guide Online (HGO) – The HGO is a smart and intuitive tool to help configure and create new system solutions. The new configuration and ordering platform that is integrated into Festo’s online product catalogue also ensures there is no need to interrupt the value chain. They can have the right standard handling system, including CAD model, in just a few clicks.

Operate – Providing condition monitoring and maintenance in the digital age
Internet of Things (IOT) – The IOT compact handling system, which is a coordinated system kit consisting of kinematics, control system, software and visualisation, is the basis for a variety of desktop applications. A gateway that is directly connected to a Cloud and the IOT then transmits the data of the components via OPC-UA to a dashboard, so data may be analysed in real time.

Inspire – Inspiring future generations to work smart with bionic and future concepts
BionicCobot – The movement patterns of the BionicCobot are modelled after those of the human arm. Each of its seven joints makes use of the natural operating mechanism of the biceps and triceps – the efficient interplay of flexor and extensor muscles. It can thus execute very delicate movements, just like its biological model. The pneumatic lightweight robot can work directly and safely together with humans and serves to inspire future ways of working and collaborating with robots.
As a trendsetter in automation technology, Festo is actively involved in a broad range of areas: our experts advise the German federal government, contribute to the standardisation of communications and software interfaces, and offer basic and further technical training opportunities across the globe. Festo is the only company to offer flexible, decentralised installation concepts and integrated mechatronic solution packages. From the mechanical system to the Industry 4.0-compatible cloud – everything comes from a single source.
