Foreigners should focus on investment in the sectors to promote
investment in Cambodia. In particular, they are activities related to
the development of the country such as infrastructure, utility, and
education as well as manufacturing activities for export to generate
income to the country.
Product/services of Thailand are recognized for the image quality
and they are very competitive to markets in Cambodia. However,
Cambodia is quite sensitive to the price of consumer goods.
Entrepreneurs should also focus on this matter.
• Currency in circulation in Cambodia is mainly the U.S. dollars.
On the one hand, it may facilitate foreign investment. Meanwhile, it
can also result in the Cambodian economy that is seriously affected
with the trend of the U.S. dollar exchange rate fluctuation.
• Cambodian purchasing power of consumers is not so high while
the strong buying power group still represents the less percentage.
This affects consumer spending behavior on products/services.
Entrepreneurs should be essentially aware of the design of such
products and services.
• Cambodia still has insufficient infrastructure and skilled
workforce.
