Food Focus Thailand had a great opportunity to attend
‘Soy So YOUNG with Tetra Pak’ trip, which visited Soya
Knowledge Centre at Tetra Pak Jurong in Singapore to
witness advanced aseptic processing and packaging
technology, as part of Tetra Pak’s “Soy So YOUNG”
campaign.

Tetra Pak Jurong in Singapore founded in 1982. The business
operation is one of the largest packaging material factory
covering up to 10 percent of global volume production. The
other businesses are beverage processing systems and innovation,
which consists of a pilot plant testing and knowledge building.
Therefore, the Soya Knowledge Centre was established in 1999 as
a product-specific knowledge centre. It keeps a resourceful collection
of research studies and findings to provide expertise support for
development soy milk innovations and maximization of soy milk’s
benefits. The Soya Knowledge Centre is designed to meet rising
consumer demands for soy milk, which is evident in soy milk sales
of Tetra Pak’s customers that grew by an average of 15 percent
per annum.
Engine for Soya Growth
Inside this Singapore factory, there are about 600 employees
representing 24 different nationalities, reflecting the universal
popularity of Singapore. Tetra Pak Jurong Singapore conducts pilot
product testing and participates in marketing research through its
Process Development Centre (PDC); similar operations are performed
in other research centre around the world; the United States, Brazil,
Sweden, China and Japan, each of which specializes in different types
of products. Tetra Pak Jurong Singapore has expertise in creating
innovative products for the manufacturing process of ready-to-drink
beverages such as tea, fruit juice, coconut milk, and soy milk drink.
This research center conducts experiments with asepticmanufacturing
and packaging technologies and tests products to enter the market
according to international production standards, all of which play a
critical role in the growth of the food and beverage industry in all
